CUO Expands Mental Health Services for Students

Cleveland University of Ohio (CUO) is dedicated to prioritizing the mental health and well-being of its students. In response to the growing need for mental health support on campus, CUO is proud to announce the expansion of its mental health services, ensuring that students have access to comprehensive resources and support systems to address their mental health needs.

The expansion of mental health services at CUO will involve several key initiatives aimed at enhancing accessibility, affordability, and effectiveness of support services for students:

1- Increased Counseling Staff: CUO will bolster its counseling staff by hiring additional licensed mental health professionals, including psychologists, counselors, and social workers. This increase in staffing will help reduce wait times for appointments and ensure that students receive timely and personalized support.

2- Extended Counseling Hours: To accommodate the diverse schedules of students, CUO will extend counseling hours, offering evening and weekend appointments. This flexibility will make it easier for students to access counseling services without disrupting their academic or extracurricular activities.

3- Peer Support Programs: CUO will implement peer support programs where trained student volunteers provide confidential support and guidance to their peers facing mental health challenges. Peer support programs offer a unique opportunity for students to connect with others who may share similar experiences and provide a sense of community and belonging.

4- Educational Workshops and Outreach: CUO will host educational workshops, seminars, and outreach events focused on mental health awareness, stress management, self-care practices, and suicide prevention. These events will empower students with knowledge, skills, and resources to proactively manage their mental health and seek help when needed.

5- Online Counseling Options: In addition to traditional in-person counseling services, CUO will offer online counseling options, including teletherapy and virtual support groups. These online resources provide students with convenient and confidential ways to access mental health support from anywhere, at any time.

"Expanding mental health services is a top priority for CUO as we strive to create a campus environment where every student feels supported, valued, and empowered to thrive," said Dr. Emily Johnson, President of CUO. "By investing in comprehensive mental health resources and support systems, we are reaffirming our commitment to student success and well-being."

The expansion of mental health services at CUO reflects the university's commitment to fostering a culture of care and compassion on campus. By providing students with the resources and support they need to prioritize their mental health, CUO aims to create a campus community where every student can reach their full potential academically, personally, and socially. Together, let us break the stigma surrounding mental health and build a healthier and more supportive campus environment for all.
